personality portrait photography
Playroom Studio was born from a desire to preserve the fleeting seasons of childhood while creating timeless photographs you'll cherish for years to come. These aren't your typical "say cheese" pictures. I strive to capture the little details, genuine expressions, and personalities that make your child uniquely them in this season of life. Personality portrait photography goes beyond a traditional posed photo. It's about creating a fun, relaxed space where your child can simply be themselves. That's where the magic happens: the silly faces, quiet moments, big personalities, and everything in between. I like to think of it as bottling up time. We all know the bittersweet truth: they don't stay little for long. I hope to help you hold onto this precious season so you can revisit it for years to come.

Hi y'all! My name is Savannah!

I'm the photographer and creator of Playroom Studio. I grew up around photography without realizing it was slowly becoming part of who I am. My mom is a professional photographer, so I was essentially raised in a photography studio. I learned by watching, absorbing, and (with the promise of a shopping-spree reward) posing as the child model for my mom's photography workshops. I took my friends' senior photos, worked on yearbook staff, and stayed connected to photography in a way that always felt natural (like photoshoot sleepovers, obvi). When I graduated from Texas A&M, my mom gifted me my very first DSLR, and little did I know that camera would eventually lead me here.
Fast forward several years. In the middle of the beautifully chaotic season of young kids and trying to figure out my own creative path, I felt pulled to create something of my own. With that same camera, a small backdrop, and a simple light kit, I started Playroom Studio right in the playroom of our home. What began as a small idea quickly turned into something I never could have imagined.
Since launching Playroom Studio in 2023, I've been incredibly grateful for how it's grown and for the families who have trusted me with their children's stories. None of it would be possible without my biggest cheerleaders: my husband Thomas, our kids Davy and Perry, and our wonderful community supporters who have rooted for me from the very beginning. <3

FAQ
Do you photograph siblings together?
Yes! While my specialty is individual personality portraits, I always love the opportunity to capture siblings together when we can.
Sibling photos are not always perfectly posed (because… siblings 😄), and they aren’t guaranteed, but I will always give it a try. There is something so special about the way siblings interact, and sometimes the little moments in between (the giggles, the teasing, the leaning in, or even the “messing with each other”) end up being the most meaningful images.
What should my child wear?
Keep it simple! Solid colors, timeless pieces, and outfits that feel like your child photograph beautifully. Avoid large logos or busy patterns that distract from their personality. If you are stuck on color, go with a pastel!
That said, if your child is obsessed with dinosaurs, princesses, superheroes, or a very specific outfit phase… I love that too. Those little seasons are worth remembering.
*Please avoid white bows on girls, it gets lost on the background. :)
How long does it take to get our photos?
Ideally, I like to get all images back to you by 2-3 weeks. If you are in a bind and need them sooner, just let me know and we can work something out.
What if my child is shy or doesn’t cooperate?
That’s actually when some of my favorite photos happen. I don’t expect every child to walk in ready to perform. We take a minute to get comfortable, and I’ll meet them where they are.
Shy, silly, serious, wild, curious - I welcome all of it!
If a child is truly having an off day and we’ve tried everything, I do offer a one-time reschedule so we can try again on a better day. And if you’re feeling nervous about booking for this reason, please reach out. I’ve seen it all, and I’d genuinely love to help ease any worries before your session.
